How to Create an Instagram-Worthy Coffee Station at Home

Preparing that first cup of joe is an essential morning ritual for coffee lovers. So how can you take this part of your daily routine to the next level? By setting up a special space just for brewing your beans! Having such a spot is gaining in popularity.

Here are a few ideas to help you design a coffee station that exceeds your expectations!

But Where?

The kitchen is the ideal location.

This is traditionally the room in which you would install your coffee-making corner. Access to water is what makes the kitchen the perfect spot. Plus being close to the sink makes cleaning up easier. Dedicating a cabinet to all things coffee, including the necessary accessories, is a great starting point. Hate having small appliances out all over the counter? Consider building a storage cubby between the counter and the top cupboards with a built-in vertical sliding door to keep your high-end espresso machine out of sight.

No space in the kitchen? No problem!

You can create a coffee station anywhere, really: dining room, living room, home office and even in a walk-in closet—which is not such a silly idea if you’re the type of person who needs your caffeine as soon as you get out of bed! For this type of set-up, choose a nice bookcase, serving cart or antique armoire on which to lay out your material. For smaller rooms, you can simply use a floating shelf on a wall or a console table. Stools tucked underneath are an invitation to take a break and truly savour your favourite drink. Add more shelves for your coffee beans and what you need to prepare them, hooks for cups and voilà!

What Are the Essential Items?

The only limit to what will live in your coffee station is your budget and needs. Depending on what is required to brew your morning java, this could include a coffee maker (filter, French press, Italian stovetop espresso pot, high-end automatic machine, etc.), a scale, cups of various sizes, a frothing pitcher to heat and froth your dairy or non-dairy milk, a grinder, a tamper, and your favourite beans, of course!

Decor Ideas

The decor must be as beautiful as it is practical. After all, the appliances and accessories will inevitably be the focal point of the overall design. Here are some tips:

  • Arrange your prettiest cups on a stand in the same style as the rest of your decor whether modern, minimalist, country or traditional.
  • Hang a theme-appropriate poster or wall decoration.
  • Use chic kitchen containers to store the coffee beans, tea and herbal tea bags you like most.
  • Add a few lovely baskets to hold the less visually appealing accessories like the scale, grinder or tamper.
  • Opt for pump-action glass bottles to dispense flavoured syrups.

Finish with an inspiring phrase or quote on a light frame or handwritten in chalk on a chalkboard painted wall.

Your Instagram-worthy coffee corner will be officially ready for its photo session!
